The goel is one of the most powerful concepts in Torah β the kinsman-redeemer who has the right and responsibility to buy back a family member from slavery, to reclaim land that was lost, or to avenge the blood of a murdered relative. The book of Ruth is entirely structured around the goel. Boaz is the goel for Ruth and Naomi β he redeems the land and takes the widow as his bride. This is precisely the role YAHUSHA fills for all of humanity: the nearest of kin (Ivrim 2:14 β He took on flesh to qualify), with both the right and the will to redeem.
